Innovative and highly-efficient solar thermal collector for Building façades
Excessive consumption of electrical energy is one of the main causes of climate change and its serious consequences, as the rise in sea levels and the increase of temperature. From the total electrical consumption in the European Union, 40% is caused by air conditioning systems (heating and cooling) in buildings, which are also the cause of 36% of CO2 emissions. For this reason, one of the most important measures to limit the impact on the environment is to reduce as much as possible the energetic expenditure of these installations.
However, the current system depends fundamentally on fossil fuels, as only 16% of air conditioning equipment work with renewable energies, situation that will become unsustainable in the long term. By improving the energetic efficiency of buildings, we could reduce the total consumption of energy in the EU by 5-6%, and CO2 emissions by 5%.
Asoluna, a Swedish company that is one of our clients, has designed and created the prototype of a multifunctional solar thermal collector called Prisma, which is destined to help solve this growing global problem. Prisma is 100% based on renewable energy, it is highly efficient (80%), easy to install and it can reduce by 50% the annual energy costs throughout the building’s life, causing a very low environmental impact.
To develop their project, Asoluna submitted their proposal to the May call of the SME Instrument Phase 1, and we are pleased to say that they got the necessary grant to carry out the tasks required in this phase, after obtaining a score of 13.64. We are very glad to have been able to participate, together with Avanoa AB, in Asoluna’s success, and we wish them a lot of success in the development of their project.
